God is Love

If You love Me, keep My Commandments.
Jesus talks about the true nature of love. A whole universe lies hidden behind those words. John the apostle says “God is love” (John 4:8) He doesn't say one of the many aspects of God is love, or love is attribute to God, he simply identifies God with Love. Good (as well as evil) is nothing but a moral category and thus remotely applicable to God, with mental gymnastics and twist. Omnipotence also applies somewhat, but that too with disclaimers (I'll get to it maybe in other answer), but love applies fully to the point that God can be identified directly with love. Now, what is love? Simply put, love is sacrifice. It's not a feeling, not a positive emotion, nothing like that. Love is the act of sacrifice. It's the ascetic principle of renouncing oneself.
